Cross Country Report
***
Opening Statement :
Cross Country at St Pius X is a day of running.  Cross country started at 1.30 in the afternoon, the whole school gathered in the school tennis courts.  The races were just about to begin.  The first load of runners were getting ready.
Paragraph one / first aspect of the Event - Cross Country :
The 12 and 13 year olds started first with their run,  then it went on from the 11 years olds down to the 5 year olds. But of course the senior and junior syndicate had totally different courses.  `Each age group from the senior syndicate went straight after each other.
Paragraph two - Second aspect of the Event
The starting point was at the back of the church in front of the school office.
Each student of each age group stood at the starting line waiting for the big BANG for them to all start running. Most of them jogged down the hill and carried on until they reached the hill and started walking.
Final Paragraph - Last aspect
The senior syndicate had finally finished all their laps and it was up to the junior syndicate to start with their races.  The junior age groups went from 8 to 5 year olds. It went 8 year old boys then 8 year old girls, it was the same for all the junior age groups. Cross country was almost finished it was just up to the 5 year old boys and girls. The last race was very fierce for the 5 year olds, everyone of them were catching up with each other and there was a lot of speed in them. Although the course was really small, the course for the juniors was just around the school field but the senior course was 2 rounds around the block.

My Reflection for Week 1 of Term 3

For week 1 in term 3, I feel that I have learnt a lot.  One of the things that I have learnt this week is learning about a country in Europe, which is Spain.  I have learnt the greetings the basic words and also the number song.
I have learnt the Structure of an Informational Report and to be able to use the fix up strategy to be able to become a better reader.
So this week I feel confident that
I have learnt a lot this week.

Book Review on Tigers Milk

I have learnt to create a
Book Review on a book that I have read,
to show my understanding of the story.

This Book was Entertaining
Title:  Tigers Milk  Author:  Christobel Mattingley
Date started:  29/07/13 - Monday 29th of July 2013
Date finished:  1/08/13 - Thursday 1st of August

What was the book about?
Tigers Milk is all about a little boy named Antony who stayed with his parents,  but then one day his dad got really sick and had to stay in hospital and his mom needed to be there by his side.
So then Antony’s mum decided to send Antony to his granny’s house in the country -
( Antony’s dads mother ).  Antony really wanted to be like his father so he did everything and anything to be just like his father.  He had even drank Tigers Milk  to be like his father.  Antony was very tiny for a young boy his age and that's why he wanted to be like his father,  nice and tall with long stringy legs and arms.
What did you like about the book?
What I liked about the story was the fact that I could connect to it,  also the fact that I could also feel how Antony was feeling about wanting to be taller and to be bigger for his age and hating the fact that he’s so tiny for his age.
What was your favourite part of the book?
My Favourite part of the book was when Antony would eat, drink and do all the things his father did, just to be taller.
How many stars would you give this book? Colour the stars.

My Book is Crazy

BOOK REVIEW

Title: DO NOT PUSH  Author: KYLE MEWBURN
Date started: 26/07/13- Thursday 26th 2013
Date finished: 30/07/13 - Monday 29th 2013

What was the book about?
The book I have chosen to do my book review on is mainly about the importance of obeying Rules and Signs.
In the book the main character is a young boy named Cam who was a very adventurous boy who enjoyed exploring the forest they had at the back of their house.
Until one day he found a big RED button connected to a steep cliff that had in big bold letters written DO NOT PUSH underneath it. He had never disobeyed rules of signs before, but then he decided to disobey a sign just that once. So he pushed and ran home, when he got home he realized that everything was bogus. Everyone was doing the complete opposite to the right thing. On the road the signs changed from saying Slow Down to Go FASTER, the local bins on the roads went from saying Please do not litter to LITTER. But then he remembered that when he pushed the button it completely changed everything.
Until he admitted that life is really crazy with out the correct rules, so he ran back to the forest pushed the button and then ran back home and then out the door to see if everything had changed back to normal. Then from then on he promised himself that he will never ever disobey rules or signs from then on.

What did you like about the book?
That the message of the story was all about the importance of obeying rules and signs and never to disobey them because then you could ruin life for not just yourself but for everyone.

What was your favourite part of the book?
The part where Cam had realized that life was far more better with rules and signs, and then he decided from then on the he would never disobey both rules and signs.

How many stars would you give this book? Colour the stars.
